We love the fact we are a husband and wife team, bringing our personal and professional relationship to the families we serve. We believe that our differences in our experiences and perspectives allow for a much deeper and richer experience for our clients. This team approach has given our families comfort and care in deep and meaningful ways over the years. Some refer to Richard as a daddy doula!

Lisa Marie’s Perspective

I have had the privilege of working with birthing families for over 30 years in a variety of settings and circumstances. From my early years as a Monitrice, to raising my children, to my midwifery practice now, my love and passion for this art only increases over time. I learn so much from each family I serve.

I am known for talking to babies, believing in what we can’t see and trusting the process. I have come to learn that each person is changed through every birthing she experiences, as is her partner. It has been an evolution of learning and stretching that has allowed me to honor the power that women and men embody as they embrace their experience and catch their own babies. Oftentimes the prenatal time is a time of exploring, stripping, and untangling old wounds so that the way of the heart is made clear.

I believe pregnancy is The Great Revealer, inviting her to see things more clearly than before, including her current relationships. This clarity is oftentimes referred to as “hormonal” or that she is being “sensitive.” Rather, this is a time of deep growth and transformation, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. 

I have a passion for women that have known emotional, physical, and sexual abuse as birth can help integrate and heal their experience. 

We spend as much time consulting and encouraging as we do sitting at labors. Having the unique privilege of working with my husband provides even more  perspective to offer our mamas.
